A bit of nostalgia for you:

All this talk of Elon Musk and his 2020 SpaceX exploits – EPBSC has a history of Space Exploration          49 years earlier than that – 1971.  Back then, it was Space-EXE.  And here’s the proof.  Photo was taken 1971 at the Exmouth Water Carnival, which was organised by EPBSC, the year after the Club’s 1970 inauguration.  The principal organisers were Yogi and Club Trustee Tony Rowe.

Now honoured with an OBE, Tony is Chief Executive and Chairman of South West Communications Group, Chief Executive and Chairman of Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club and a Freeman of the City of Exeter.
Tony was also a successful powerboat racer, in the late 1970s winning the Rouen 24hr powerboat race and setting a new British water speed record at Windermere, Lake District.  Tony raced his catamaran at various UK courses, including Bristol and Cardiff Docks, and was instrumental in organising the two Exeter Powerboat Race weekends at Exeter Quay in 1982 and 1983.

Where are we:

Situated at the entrance of Exmouth Marina, this family orientated club provides clubroom, bar, changing and shower facilities, and is RYA affiliated.   The membership is active in offshore (OCRDA and UKOPRA) and inshore (Club) powerboating and other clubs such as SBI and APA, water ski racing, classic skiing, wakeboard and slalom. There are zoned water skiing and powerboating areas within the sheltered River Exe, where the club has a moored pontoon. A nearby slipway provides easy access to the River Exe Estuary.

The Club is an association of members that promotes powerboating and waterskiing activities within the Exe Estuary and adjacent waters and works very well with the many Exe clubs and organisations.
It is the only local organisation representing these activities on the Exe. Although the Club is unable to formally offer powerboating instruction or waterski/wakeboard tuition, Club membership gives access to our very keen and active watersports enthusiasts who are very willing to share their boating and waterskiing skills with you.

For membership application, see the Membership page and down load the MSWord file.   THIS CLUB THRIVES and SURVIVES on it's MEMBERSHIP Fees (£50)  PLEASE PAY PROMPTLY via the Membership Secretary
